Avalanche Awareness is a general overview following the American Avalanche Associations course guidelines “Intro to Avalanches.”   FOBP educates you in the principle contributing factors to avalanches and how to evaluate each as they relate to the avalanche hazard.  It’s a great review too if it’s been a couple of years since you’ve taken an awareness class or even a Level 1 or 2. .   FOBP discusses: Avalanche myths, victim demographics, avalanche triangle, basic route selection, backcountry travel, snow stability evaluations, concepts of self-rescue & small party rescue and rescue equipment needs.

About 3 hours of classroom from 7:05pm until 10:00pm in a VERY casual atmosphere

Please see FOBP Website for dates and locations

Just wanted to give a shout out as I attended your Avalanche & Beacon Training Classroom sessions, and it was without a doubt the best $40 I ever spent!!!

Besides being tons of fun, it was a really great introduction to snow safety, avalanches, and the vast field of snow research. Incredibly educational and a great way to begin the process of properly training yourself for safe travels in the BC, something I really need as a BC newbie.

People seriously need to jump on this training AS SOON AS YOU CAN. You won’t regret it.

Thanks again Bobski & Alpenglow for sponsoring & keep up the incredible work!

Hi Bob -

My husband and I attended your class last night and I wanted to tell you HOW much we appreciated it!   You did a great job of presenting a huge amount of information, and you kept it super interesting, entertaining and relevant.

I am planning to start backcountry skiing this year (can't handle the ski resorts anymore) and have done a lot of snowshoeing in the past.

This was the first avy class I have taken and I feel like I learned so much - probably should have started this years ago.  Obviously still have a ton to learn, but I feel more confident about what to look for and be aware of.   Can't wait to strap on some skins and start working harder for my downhills!

Thanks again - Erika

I took this Avy Awareness class last Wednesday. It was very informative and 'Bobski' is an excellent instructor. This is certainly not a replacement for an Avy I type certification class but is a very good starting point for the cost. Well worth it in my opinion. - Dean, CO Springs

I was at the class Tuesday & Thursday nights. I highly recommend it as I learned QUITE a lot. Bobski is pretty entertaining too! If you are looking to spend anytime in the mountain snow this winter, I think this is the best $40 you'll spend!  Gabriel - Golden

You can’t beat the $$ for the Quality you get. Bobski is VERY passionate and knowledgeable about this subject and does an excellent job! I’m bringing my boyfriend back to the next class as it’s been a bunch of years since his Level 1 and this would be a GREAT refresher for him!  Thanks Bobski!    Amber - Boulder, CO        PS GREAT popcorn too!!!

Bobski, YOU ROCK!! that was a GREAT class!  I’m stoked and can’t WAIT to get out and “play in the snow!!!  - Dani,  Arvada, CO

Alpenglow, just wanted to thank you for announcing this class. I went last night and enjoyed it.  Bobski is pretty damn entertaining! It was definitely informative and much better than the course I attended at REI a couple of years ago. I plan on taking the beacon course too!.
Thanks so much!  Curtis - Denver, CO
